    I’m guessing that it’s not possible to access the workshop in-game. Is it possible to get the mods from the Bethesda site from anywhere else ?

    I’m not sure what you mean by Bethesda site..

    But you can get all the mods from Skyrim officials Mods site:

    Lion is a bit behind with his info. Skyrim Special Edition uses “official mods” by Bethesda, where you login in game in a new Mods menu. Like Fallout 4. Those mods do not work on pirate. There is already a new section for Special edition on Nexus, and those all will work like on regular Skyrim.
